Hot-dip coated flat products

The standard covers a wide range of steel types, depending on the intended application:

  • Steels for stamping: high formability for shaped or aesthetic parts
  • Structural steels: greater strength for load-bearing applications
  • Micro-alloyed (HSLA): good balance between strength and workability
  • Multi-phase (AHSS): for advanced performance and controlled deformation

The VDA 239-100 standard consistently regulates a wide range of hot-dip coatings as well, besides classifying the technical requirements of uncoated steels, primarily used in the automotive industry.

The combination between steel and coating makes it possible to adapt the material to a wide array of environments and processes, with applications ranging from automotive and construction, to household appliances and general industry.
